Picking up stitches for "pocket" neckline grafting using two pairs of needles

In this process, two identical layers are formed (outer and inner), which will later be joined by grafting.

The upper stitches remain on the first pair of needles (main layer), the lower ones — on the second pair of needles (inner part of the "pocket").

Work sequence:

Hold two pairs of identical needles, of a size 0.25-0.5 mm smaller than the needle size for the main part of the work, with their working tips together.

Position the first needle in front of the work, the second — behind the work.

You need to pick up stitches onto both held-together needles simultaneously.

With the first needle, knit a knit stitch into the edge of the neckline, after which wrap the working yarn around the second needle, positioned behind the work.

On vertical sections, pick up stitches at a rate of 3 stitches for every 4 rows, on all others — stitch for stitch.

Important! For the elasticity of the grafting, perform the pick-up slightly looser than usual. Watch the thread tension: the edge must not pucker.

The number of stitches picked up on the two needles must be the same.
